I’ve been fortunate to call this community home for more than 30 years—and it’s hard to believe how quickly the time has passed since I first began practicing dentistry here in December 1990. What hasn’t changed is the joy I feel each day when I walk into the office and see our wonderful patients.
My story began in Malaysia, where I spent the first six years of my life. To this day, I have a deep love for Southeast Asian culture and cuisine, and I try to return whenever possible. In 1970, my family immigrated to California, which has been home ever since. I attended high school in Sunnyvale, then pursued Molecular Biology at San Jose State University before earning my Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco. I graduated in 1990 and immediately began the career that continues to inspire me daily.
Outside of dentistry, I’m passionate about fishing—especially fly fishing and fly tying—along with golf, travel, great food, and, most of all, spending time with my wife and our three amazing children (twin boys and a daughter). Fishing has taken me around the world, from Brazil and Bolivia to Guatemala, Costa Rica, Mexico, the South Pacific, Malaysia, Singapore ,the Bahamas, Alaska, Canada, the Florida Keys and beyond. Closer to home, I also help run a four-man guide service, Orland Outfitters (www.orlandoutfitters.com), where I still guide part-time.
While I enjoy many hobbies, life ultimately revolves around my wife and children. Dentistry and fishing take a close second and third, with golf trailing just behind—though I’ll admit that nothing beats sharing a truly great meal.
Professionally, I find dentistry deeply rewarding. I’m committed to lifelong learning and staying on the leading edge of dental innovation. To date, I’ve completed more than 2,300 hours of continuing education—and that number continues to grow. My goal is always to bring the latest techniques and technologies to my patients to support their long-term health and well-being.
I’m proud to be an active member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, Northern California Dental Association, World Congress of Minimally Invasive Dentistry, World Clinical Laser Institute, Academy of Computerized Dentistry of North America, International Association of Ozone in Healthcare, and the Northern California CEREC Study Club.
